Buddhism in Chola Nadu : Pudhu Ezuthu
I am delighted to inform one and all that Buddhism in Chola Nadu, the English version of my book (Chola Nattil Bautham, Pudhu Ezuthu, Kaveripattinam, 2022) has just come out. I wanted to publish it in Tamil and English, as soon as I was awarded a doctorate by Tamil University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, two decades back. The Tamil version was published in 2022, and the English version now saw the light of the day.
Many scholars and friends advised me to bring out its English version. Their encouragement and my interest in translation to bring it out in English since the beginning helped me to achieve my goal. I take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all of them.
It took more than one year to bring out this version. I made some modifications then and there. A Buddha statue from Thanjavur Museum, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, and a head of Buddha found during a field study in Pazhayarai, Thanjavur district, are additions to this work. The translation has been carried out by me. As in the Tamil version, I tried my level best to give reliable sources. To get additional information, and to get clear photographs of statues, I went on field study to many places.
My thanks are due to publisher Mr Sugavana Murugan (Mobile: 98426 47101) of Pudhu Ezuthu for the neat execution of printing, like the Tamil edition. Pre-publication offer is available up to 31 July 2024.
